Dungeons and Dragons Will Feature Monsters From The Imagination Of Children

I don’t need to tell anyone here that one of the parts of my job that makes me happiest is when I get to cover news that’s just good, which is exactly what this news article is.

Dungeons and Dragons, everyone but your grandma’s favourite pen-and-paper adventure game, has just released a new project that features monsters initially created and designed by children.

Dungeons and Dragons are doing so as part of their collaboration with Extra Life. For those of you who don’t already know, Extra Life is the gaming branch of the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

Gamers and companies raise charity funds yearly through tournaments and events under the Extra Life banner. This year, Dungeons and Dragons have jumped into the ring with their unique monster compendium.

Titled Misplaced Monsters: Volume One, each of the monsters featured within was designed by kids at the Seattle Children’s Hospital and then transformed into full Dungeons and Dragons monsters by Wizards of the Coast.

And for those wanting to see the inspiration behind the finished art, each monster will feature the original concept by the child side-by-side with the professional artist’s interpretation.

A few unique monsters include a flying unicorn mermaid, Coral, who can conjure magical bubbles from her horn. Dandylion is a friendly lion made of flowers and leaves who tends gardens and fields in the Feywild and a flying unicorn cat who fights evildoers with glitter and heals friends with rainbows who go by the name of Rain.

Don’t let the cuteness of these creatures lull you into a false sense of security. Each has a challenge rating between 5-10, ensuring they aren’t a joke to play against. All proceeds from Misplaced Monsters: Volume One will go directly to the Seattle Children’s Hospital and Autism Center.
