Liam McIntyre’s Gears of War 6 Update Doesn’t Bode Well

A recent update from none other than Liam McIntyre, the voice actor of Marcus Fenix’s son JD Fenix in the Gears of War franchise, spells disappointment from fans who are eagerly awaiting an announcement about Gears of War 6.

Since the release of Gears 5 in 2019, very little has been said about the franchise’s potential future. Still, the game was a solid entry into the franchise, which left many fans hoping that Gears of War 6 would be on the horizon.

However, in a recent interview, Liam McIntyre stated he had yet to hear anything from The Coalition, the studio behind the Gears of War franchise, regarding Gears of War 6.

“I haven’t heard anything! And that’s genuine. Like it’s not even one of those ‘I’ve got an NDA I can’t tell you’. I’m like, where we at?”

This statement doesn’t bode well for fans anticipating Gears of War 6 because it’s unlikely that such an important character wouldn’t form part of the next entry. In 2021 The Coalition began working on a new IP, pushing the sixth Gears instalment further down the road.

But when rumours started to swirl online that The Coalition had cancelled two games and moved on to Gears 6 instead, fans were excited, although that seems less likely now.

At the moment, whatever The Coalition is working on remains a mystery. Still, fans will likely learn more about it in June when Xbox holds its Games Showcase.
