Dead Island 2: Five Tips And Tricks For Having One Hell Of A Good Time In Hell-A

Over the last while, we at NAG have spent our evenings unwinding by fighting and hacking our way through Zombies in Hell-A, thanks to Dead Island 2. Now the game is finally available for everyone to enjoy. While we’ve already published our review on it, the game deserves more words from us.

So if you’re gearing up to venture into Hell-A for the first time, here are the five things we think are vital to having a good time playing Dead Island 2.

Challenges Are The Best Way To Improve Your Character

One of the quickest and best ways to improve your character in Dead Island 2 is to complete challenges, although it’s also one of the easiest things to miss.

Throughout the game, players will find themselves ambiently completing challenges or various tiers just by killing zombies, using specific weapons, etc.

However, many players might miss that different challenges yield different character-specific rewards, such as improving your health, earning more money, and even increasing your critical damage bonuses.

Fuses Are The Best Thing Your Money Can Buy

If you only buy one thing throughout your adventures in Hell-A, then make sure that one thing is a fuse. Throughout the game, you’ll come across many empty fuse boxes that can only be used by placing a fuse within.

These fuseboxes are used to open locked doors to gain access to uncommon or rare weapons, and crafting resources and fuses can only be acquired by purchasing them from Carlos, the trader in Jaunt’s mansion.

It’s also important to note that Carlos only stocks two fuses at a time, so it’s worth your while to make multiple trips back to him to replenish as you play.

Not All Zombies Are The Same

The more you play Dead Island 2, the more you’ll encounter elemental Zombies. These Zombies are on fire or carry their own electrical charge; some are even caustic.

They’re collective pains in the ass, and certain damage types will be useless against them; you can’t fight fire with fire, after all. So if you want to make the most of your time in-game and ensure you have the best time playing, always have different elemental mods on your weapons to counter the Zombies you’re bound to face.

Don’t Forget About The Story

One of the first things you’ll notice when you play Dead Island 2 is how big the various areas in the game are. Because of the sheer size, it’s super easy to get distracted and veer off the path. Literally.

However, as much fun as running around, exploring and killing Zombies is, Dead Island 2 is one game where you should try to progress through the main story as soon as possible.

Progressing through the story changes the world around you, and much that the game has to offer in particular areas, including unique zombies, only appears as you progress. The way Dead Island 2 was designed encourages players to return to areas multiple times over to unlock and explore everything, so there is no downfall to chasing the story, as players won’t find themselves missing out on any content if they do.

Why Slow Travel When You Can Fast Travel?

I love Fast Traveling in games, as many of us do, and while it may appear like the only way to make your way through Dead Island 2 is by foot, that isn’t the case.

As players progress through the game, they will unlock safe rooms and houses, and if they explore these, they’ll be able to find maps they can use to fast travel around the game.

Fast Travelling doesn’t cost players anything. In a game where Zombies are constantly respawning, it can be an excellent tool for completing all the various missions and side quests. It’s just a pity that it isn’t better highlighted as a feature within the game.
