World of Warcraft Changing How Gear Trading Works

It’s crazy to think how long World of Warcraft has been around and how much love it still receives all these years later [It will never be the end of the World, of Warcraft – Ed]. To mix things up, World of Warcraft is changing how Gear Trading works in the upcoming 10.1 patch, Embers of Neltharion.

For those of you who maybe aren’t World of Warcraft regulars but for some reason found yourself here, staying up to date with all changes, Gear Trading is the mechanic that allows players to freely exchange Soulbound drops from dungeons and raids.

Currently, the system allows for gear to be traded for up to two hours after acquiring it or until the item has been equipped or sold.

However, in the 10.1 patch on the Public Test Realm, players learned that the gear trading rules had changed. Players can now trade gear for up to four hours after first getting it before the item becomes permanently Soulbound to them. However, this increased timer continues ticking even while offline rather than stopping until you log back in again.

Most players won’t even realise the change has been rolled out. The increased duration will allow for more freedom when distributing gear. However, some hardcore Raiders and Mythic+ dungeon delvers in World of Warcraft are known to freeze their loot by logging out until the weekly reset to see their gear from the Great Vault to decide if a dungeon or raid drop would be helpful for them, something which will no longer be possible.

Regardless, what’s done is done, and players will have to adapt to these new limitations with Gear Trading. Embers of Neltharion is releasing on the 2nd of May for PC.
