In 2021, Ubisoft announced The Division: Heartland, an entirely new way to experience The Green Poison. They’ve finally given us a deeper look into the game and what we can expect.
The Deep Dive video explains that Heartland will have a similar yet different feel to the original Division games. While on the surface, the game looks very similar to what we already know and love; it’s what’s beneath it that has changed—the gameplay itself. The Division Heartland takes us more along the path of an exfil shooter than the raid-style gameplay we got in the original series. I’m sure those who hang out in the dark zones all day are salivating.
The devs show off a couple of things we can expect from the new game; a day and night cycle, where, by day, players will be scavenging the small town of Silver Creek for loot to assist in upgrading home base or gathering enough materials to build weapons and armour needed for the chaos that occurs at night. At night, we hit threat level midnight; players need to switch to a more defensive approach when out in the Silver Creek wilds to ensure they survive until the morning.
The devs also touch on a few classes that can be picked, they only mention 3, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed for more. They also mention some of the game’s survival aspects, like keeping yourself hydrated and healthy.
While no release dates have been announced, Ubisoft has opened pre-registrations for the game. Sign up, do it. Then see if you can find me in the dark.
