Today is objectively one of the best days of the week. Not only is that energy in the air that says it’s almost Friday, but today is also the day that Epic Games Store acts like it’s in a relationship with you and is making amends by offering you a present.
For those of you who aren’t already drowning under the immense weight of free games just pilling up, never to be played but would like to be, here’s how it works.
Every Thursday, Epic Games Store makes a new game available for players to download and add to their libraries for free. Forever. It’s a super simple system too.
All gamers need to do to grab this gift for themselves is log into their Epic account, redeem the game on offer and add it to their library. That game is then yours to keep, to play or to add to an ever-growing list of games you mean to play but probably never will.
This week’s games are Beyond Blue and Never Alone, available from the 20th until the 27th.
Beyond Blue is a single-player narrative adventure that takes you deep into our planet’s beating blue heart. Explore the extraordinary wonder and unbounded mystery within the world’s ocean.
Set in the near future, Beyond Blue explores the mysteries of our ocean through the eyes of Mirai, a deep-sea explorer and scientist. Become a part of a newly-formed research team using groundbreaking technologies to see, hear, and interact with the ocean more meaningfully than has ever been attempted.
Never Alone comes from the same developers who worked on Beyond Blue and lets players experience the epic journey of Nuna and Fox as they search for the source of an eternal blizzard that threatens the survival of everything they have ever known.
Never Alone is an atmospheric puzzle platformer developed in collaboration with the Iñupiat, an Alaska Native people, drawn from a traditional story shared across generations.
Guide both characters in single-player mode or play cooperatively with a friend as you trek through frozen tundra, leap across treacherous ice floes, swim through underwater caverns and face enemies both strange and familiar.
If either of these two games jumped out at you, then remember to head on over to Epic Games Store and add the game to your library before the 27th to make sure you own them for whenever the mood strikes or to hoard, like you’re a dragon and games are the treasure you seek.
