At this point, there is a higher and more likely chance that I will learn to fly just by standing and flapping my arms around like a bird than there is of me ever getting to play Beyond Good and Evil 2. There I’ve said it.
According to some newly emerged news, it seems that Beyond Good and Evil 2 is still very much paying for previous sins by finding itself stuck in development hell, which is troubling, to say the least, as Ubisoft just recently announced the game was still in development – getting many fans hopes up, unjustly it would seem.
To put it into perspective, Beyond Good and Evil 2 was announced 15 years ago. Since dropping a reveal trailer at E3 2017, nothing more has been seen or said about the much-anticipated title, something I don’t need to tell you that is rarely a good sign.
Still, some thought that this silence meant that Ubisoft was hard at work on the game, too hard at work to even offer an update. That is not the case; it seems Ubisoft has yet to do anything in the years since the announcement and trailer. The game recently overtook Duke Nukem as history’s most-delayed AAA game.
Then April 18th rolled around, and a job listing from Ubisoft Barcelona offered new insights into the troubled project. The job post is for a senior concept artist who would work on Beyond Good and Evil 2, which is troubling because concept artists are mainly involved in the pre-production stage of game development.
Ubisoft had previously listed Beyond Good and Evil 2 as active development in July of 2022. Still, this job listing implies that either they lied a year ago or something happened between then and now for Beyond Good and Evil 2 to be returned to the literal drawing board.
