Call of Duty, the most sought-after game in all existence -according to Microsoft and Sony – has released Season 3 of Warzone 2.0 and Modern Warfare 2. The latest Season introduced many new cosmetic items and, as usual, a brand-new battle pass. Much to the dismay of its entire players base, it also included some serious Pay-to-Win content.
On the 12th of April, Activision introduced a new cosmetic bundle to Warzone 2.0, which contained what Activision referred to as a DMZ boost. Basically, the game’s new Bomb Squad bundle gives players a skin for Fender, a SAKIN MG38 LMG blueprint, an active duty slot, a sticker, an emblem and a seriously unfair advantage.
Players who equip Fender’s skin in DMZ are given a medium backpack, and the LMG has a much shorter cooldown than free guns. Because of this, many fans have taken to Twitter to express their disappointment at yet another beloved game becoming Pay-to-Win.
However, it’s doubtful if fans’ outcry will do anything to change this kind of model in the future. According to a recent datamine that leaked on Reddit, many more bundles that provide DMZ advantages are in the works currently. Even though DMZ, Warzone 2.0’s extraction mode, is still in beta, Activision seems to be sticking to their guns on this one. Literally.
What do you think about this kind of Pay-to-Win structure being introduced to the game? Let us know in the comments.
