In news I definitely wasn’t expecting to write this morning, Warner Bros. Pictures just revealed the release date for the… I want to say anticipated? live-action movie adaptation of Minecraft. While a live-action adaptation of the hit game is hardly new news and has been in development since 2014, I still find it hard not to chalk this news up to a weirdly ongoing April Fool’s prank.
Anyway, the adaptation is, in fact, genuine and the last time fans were given an update about the film, it was revealed that Jason Momoa somehow signed on as part of the cast. The Minecraft movie had a rough time getting to the point where Warner Bros. Pictures could announce a release date.
The live-action ‘MINECRAFT’ movie, starring Jason Momoa, will release on April 4, 2025 in theaters.

The movie was initially revealed not through an official announcement but instead as a leak from an ex-Mojang employee, and since then, the film has gone through a fair share of directors, writers and release dates.
However, it now seems like the film is finally on some kind of track. Warner Bros. Pictures has given it a firm release date of the 4th of April 2025. While waiting an additional two years for the film may seem ridiculous, considering how long the movie has been in limbo, this is a rather ambitious release date.
