As winter slowly sinks its teeth into the year, I find it the perfect time to pick up a few casual games to enjoy with a cup of hot Milo in hand. One genre I tend to be pulled toward is City Building.
Luckily, Steam is giving us not one, not two, but three new games tomorrow for us to city-build and chill.
Let’s dig in!
TerraScape (Early Access)
Download
First on the list, and something I’ve already got on my wishlist, is TerraScape. This game gives city building a bit of an exciting twist. You don’t build a whole city just for the sake of building. From the looks of the trailer and what the playtesters got up to, TerraScape is a game where you try to rack up as many points as possible by slapping your cards (the different city buildings) onto the land in the perfect positions.
It gives off a casual vibe and sounds perfect for a cold winter’s day, all tucked under a blanket.
Grimgrad (New)
Download
Next, we have Grimgrad, which offers a more traditional city-building platter for us to indulge in. You must attempt to survive the harsh times of the Middle Ages while keeping not only your villages happy, but also the Slavic deities.
Grimgrad comes off a little more serious than TerraScape does, but it offers up some stunning visuals and both a story and full survival mode to test your city-building skill.
NecroCity (Early Access)
Download
And the final April 5th offering we have is NecroCity. NecroCtiy takes us towards the survival RTS type of city building, where we not only have to build our dream city of the undead but also explore the surroundings and defend it from those evil good guys! This is a more comical city builder on the list and looks like a real laugh.
