Life By You, The Upcoming Sims Competitor, Simulates Every Second of Characters Lives

The much-anticipated Sims competitor, Life By You, will take things to the next level by simulating every second of the characters’ virtual lives. And no, this doesn’t just mean the playable characters but also the NPCs populating the game’s open world.

For those who might not have heard about the game, Life By You is an upcoming life-sim in the same vein as The sims and developed by Rod Humble of Sims 2 and Sims 3 fame. The game will be released in early access on the 12th of September this year and published by Paradox Interactive.

Rod Humble promises that Life By You will be more profound and far vaster than any Sims game players have played before. Life By You will go as far as modelling each second of each character’s independent life and will let players live up to 75 years of age in the game.

Life By You will also have no loading screens, meaning time will pass at the same rate throughout the game. Rod Humble explains that with most other life simulation games, locations are separated by loading screens, which means characters in one location stop existing while players aren’t there. But with Life By You, everyone will be in the same world at the same time and will therefore follow the same rules.

NPCs will have their own homes, relationships and lives, constantly evolving and moving forward. Players can even take control of these NPCs anytime, allowing them to explore their lives. Another aspect that sets Life By You apart from its competitors is that all characters in the game exist on the same playing field and can do the same things.

This means that all characters will have their own initiative when not controlled by players. They can make significant life decisions independently, like getting married, changing jobs, or even having a house.

Rod Humble says the reason why he has gone to these great lengths is that it’s something he has never seen done before. Hopefully, the team can pull it off by the time the ambitious title enters Early access later in the year.
