Lords of the Fallen Shows Off Impressive Graphics and Character Customisation

It’s been a while since we’ve had any news to cover on Lords of the Fallen, once known as Lords of the Fallen 2. The sequel to Lords of the Fallen was announced way back in 2014 already. Still, the project has gone through numerous reshuffles of developers since, with Hexworks, the game’s current and hopefully last developer, only taking over in 2020.

When Hexworks took over the development of Lords of the Fallen, they had given the game a tentative release window of 2023; however, little of the game has been seen since this announcement. This is why Hexworks releasing a technical presentation of Lords of the Fallen at Epic’s State of Unreal GDC keynote was unexpectedly exciting.

The presentation showed off the game’s frankly impressive visuals and gave viewers a first-ever look at character customisation. In the showcase video released, they use a mix of 3D scans of real people and Unreal Engine 5’s built-in character customisation technology to create a scaling interface allowing players to customise their character’s body type.

Other features showcased were the game’s high-resolution surfaces, physics-enabled armour, weapon animations, and environmental lighting. The showcases also hinted at Lords of the Fallen’s two worlds, Umbral and Axiom.

According to Hexworks, Lords of the Fallen is still planned for release later this year and will be releasing on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
