Do you know what day it is? That’s right, today is that glorious day of the week when Epic Games makes like Santa Clause and delivers free presents for all the boys and girls. Unlike Santa, Epic doesn’t care if you’ve been good or bad, and the gift is never a lump of coal.
For those who aren’t already knee-deep into free Epic Games Store games, here is how it works. Every Thursday, Epic Games Store makes a new game available for players to download and add to their libraries for free.
All gamers need to do to grab this gift for themselves is log into their Epic account, redeem the game on offer and add it to their library. That game is then yours to keep, to play or to just add to an ever-growing list of games you mean to play but probably never will.
Epic has upped the ante this week and offered gamers two free games. Chess Ultra and World of Warships Starter Pack: Ishizuchi – both available from the 23rd to the 30th of March.
Chess Ultra injects the greatest strategy game of all time with a modern twist, offering the ultimate chess experience with stunning 4K visuals, Grandmaster-approved AI and full VR compatibility.
Players will have access to 10 Grandmaster-approved AI levels, comprehensive-time controls, including Classical, Blitz and Marathon, and cross-platform online play and leaderboards.
The game also comes with full Twitch integration allowing streamers to play games against their community, and full VR support for the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.
World of Warships Starter Pack: Ishizuchi sees players engage in naval battles and assemble an armada of over 600 ships from the first half of the 20th century. Players can change the look of their ships, upgrade them to suit their playstyle and then use that ship to battle with other players.
While the game is free to download and play, World of Warships Starter Pack: Ishizuchi gives players access to Ishizuchi, a Japanese Tier IV battleship, an additional port slot, 11x Epic camouflages, 11x common expendable economic bonuses and 5x Award containers.
If either of these games sounds like something you or your friends will enjoy, then remember to head over to Epic Games Store and add the games to your library before the 30th to make sure they’re there for whenever the mood strikes.
