Far Cry 5 Celebrates 5th Anniversary With Next-Gen Updates

It’s hard to believe that Far Cry 5 is already five full years old, but it is. To celebrate this milestone Ubisoft, the game’s developers have announced that Far Cry 5 will receive an update for PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X/S to add 60fps to the game.

The celebratory news was announced on Twitter last night:

In addition to the 60fps update, there is also going to be a free play weekend from the 23rd to the 27th of March for PC and console players – giving players the chance to experience the game, with the update, for themselves even if they don’t own the game.

Alongside the announcements above, the official Far Cry Twitter account has also been hinting at a highly requested feature that will be headed to next-gen consoles and that there would be several big announcements over the following few weeks although they haven’t yet elaborated any further.

Far Cry 5 was first released back in 2018 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC and was met with wide praise. In the years since the game has only become better. The promise by Ubisoft of several big announcements has many on Twitter speculating that Far Cry 7, the next mainline game in the series, is set to be announced.
