Calling All South African Gamers With An Interest In Pursuing Esports For A Career

Calling all South African gamers who have an interest in pursuing Esports, not casually but rather as a career. Sam “Tech Girl” Wright, is a leading Esports shoutcaster who has worked throughout Africa in China and Europe as both a host and commentator.

Since 2016, Sam has worked hard to become a prominent and recognizable voice in competitive gaming and has worked with Blizzard, Nintendo, PUBG and Red Bull through the years.

Tonight at 6:30 PM (South African Time) on her discord server, Sam Wright will be hosting a talk where she will answer all serious questions surrounding casting and Esports.

We had the chance to speak to Sam briefly about tonight’s talk and why she decided to host it:

“When I started esports commentating/broadcasting work I had no clue what I was doing (the OGs will remember Cringe Girl). I stubbed my toes a lot on furniture I didn’t even know I needed to be looking out for. I got support from overseas colleagues once I started working in Europe but the landscape in developing regions like ZA is so different.

So I figured I’d give some of my time to answer questions from other aspiring Shoutcasters, hosts and commentators in ZA & developing regions – so they don’t stub their toes as much as I did. And hopefully, it helps improve the level of broadcast quality South African esports is putting out!”

During the talk, Sam is specifically looking to answer questions submitted by those aspiring to become part of the industry and questions can be submitted by following the link here.

Sam won’t just be answering questions though she will ask be delving into some of her own experiences starting in the industry as well as going through the small nuances of navigating a smaller market while trying to build a portfolio.
