Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer Will Be Free To Play This Week

When 2023 started I don’t think I could ever have anticipated how many times I would be sitting at my desk typing the words “Call of Duty”, and yet here I am, typing it again. Today’s news however has nothing to do with the ongoing Microsoft Activision Blizzard merger and that alone is pretty damn exciting.

Instead, this news is about the game itself, refreshing, I know. As it stands, Activision Blizzard has announced that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, more specifically the multiplayer, will be free to play for a limited time this month. This means that new players will have the chance to try out some of the multiplayer magic Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is known for, but without having to purchase the game.

Starting on Thursday and running until the 20th of March, players who don’t already own the game will be able to spend five full days playing multiplayer with their friends. During this limited free period, players will have access to six multiplayer maps and will also be able to play the cooperative raid that was introduced with Season 1.

As of writing, there has been no word about when the next free period will be, however judging from the current rollout, players should be able to expect a limited free run with each new season of the game.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is currently available to play on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S and the free period will be active across each of these platforms.
