A Newly Discovered World of Warcraft Weapon Could Have Major Implications For the Future

I’m not someone who gets excited about World of Warcraft news in general but the last few weeks have been absolute fire for Blizzard’s juggernaut. First, it was revealed that Blizzard would soon be doing away with many of the restrictions players have been facing for years when choosing either Horde or Alliance by allowing players from the opposing factions to finally join the same guild and play together, and now, a new weapon that was datamined could have significant and exciting implications for the future of the World of Warcraft: Dragonflight expansion.

Ahead of the March 21st 10.0.7 patch, a new weapon was datamined from the latest test build available on the public test realm. We already know the upcoming patch will take players back to The Forbidden Reach in the wake of Raszageth’s demise but now players who have been testing the patch have uncovered a weapon that could potentially hold the clue as to where the following patches for Dragonflight will be heading.

The weapon doesn’t have an official name yet but the scythe shape of the staff, as well as the colouration and hourglass pattern, bears a striking resemblance to Nozdormu, the timeless aspect of the Bronze Draginflight.

It’s worth noting that this isn’t the first time that Nozdormu, otherwise known as Deathwing, has been hinted at as a potential boss in World of Warcraft. During Cataclysm, players faced an Infinite Dragonflight version of Nozdormu called Murozond. In this instance, players were victorious and put an end to the Dragonflight… or so they thought. The Infinite Dragonflight has since appeared in two dungeons within the Dragonflight expansion.

At the moment, players can only speculate on whether or not the datamined staff will serve as a prize for players for taking on Murozond once more, but until further and more concrete evidence gets uncovered players will just have to wait and see how it all plays out.
