Just 30 days ago, to the day, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive broke its record for concurrent players, 11 years after the game was first released. We covered this milestone with a post you can read here and spoke about how, against all odds, CS: GO has consistently become more and more popular with every passing year. How right we were.
Just 30 days later and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive has blown away its last record reaching a new peak of 1.42 million concurrent players over the weekend, beating last month’s record of 1.32 million.
It’s worth repeating that this kind of continual support and growth for a game that is over a decade old is nothing short of unprecedented and frankly rather remarkable. The CS: GO Twitter account acknowledged reaching this new milestone with a well-deserved humble brag:
Thank you to our 1.4M Twitter followers for organizing and playing CS:GO concurrently today.

From the current state of things, it might not be long until I’m back here, covering this news again because ever since this weekend, the game has had a consistently high player count, with the current record almost being broken once again. What makes the fact that CS: GO is still breaking player records 11 years on even more impressive is that over the last decade, the game hasn’t seen much significant change to keep players engaged.
Don’t get us wrong, there are seasonal events, cosmetics, and game modes constantly in rotation; however, the game’s core has been the same since launch, and the formula has never once wavered.
Now we want to know from you, do you still play Counter-Strike: Global Offensive? Let us know in the comments below.
