PlayStation 5 Update 7.0 Released, Introduces 1440p VRR and Discord Voice Chat

Yesterday Sony rolled out its new PlayStation 5 System Update 7.0, something console users have been eagerly anticipating for a while now. One of the biggest and most requested features to come from this update is Discord Voice Chat, but that’s far from the only thing Sony delivered with Update 7.0.

Last month Sony ran a beta release of its update to praise from the community, and as of yesterday, the update is now available for all PlayStation 5 users. The two most prominent features from the update include support for Variable Refresh Rates for 1440p screens and Discord Voice Chats.

The update was also full of accessibility and ease-of-use features like Saved Data Migration. Once the update has been installed, users will get a notification whenever PlayStation 4 saved data is available in PlayStation Network cloud storage. This update will make it easier for users to continue games where they left off on the PlayStation 4 without having to start a brand new game file.

Another addition is PS5 to PS5 Data Transfer. Users can now transfer all the data on their PlayStation 5 console, from games to saved data, settings, and even screenshots, to another PlayStation 5 console using either a LAN cable or their Wi-Fi network.

And, of course, the most anticipated feature is that users can now join Discord voice chats on their PlayStation 5 console to chat with their friends across platforms. To use this feature, users will have to link their Discord and PlayStation accounts, and then they’ll be good to go.
