All you World of Warcraft players out there might want to sit down before reading this news. Sitting? Okay, so Blizzard revealed some details about the upcoming patch, and it’s every bit as exciting as players might hope.
In a historic move for the franchise, Blizzard will be adding one of the most requested features of all time, by allowing Horde and Alliance players to join the same guide banner for the very first time. Last year Blizzard already started to bridge the divide between factions when they allowed players from opposing sides to team up for some group content.
Players were also able to turn on cross-faction functionality for the first time however, guilds were still fully locked to only one faction. But when the newly announced Embers of Neltharion update arrives, faction divide could truly be a thing of the past for the game.
A lot of the history and lone of the game has been built on the seemingly endless conflict between Horde and Alliance and while over the years factions have come together for the greater good in the story content they have always remained separated when it comes to gameplay.
Blizzard hasn’t released any details about what a cross-faction guild would look like or if there would be any restrictions still left in place but that doesn’t take away from how exciting a change like this would truly be. For years players have found their character choices limited to what the rest of the group wanted to play but hopefully, not for much longer.
While the update has no official release date yet, it is set to arrive on the Public Test Realm on the 9th of March.
