Microsoft Details How It Plans To Get Call of Duty: Warzone Running On Switch

It’s a new day, a new week and even a new month but yet here we are, still talking about the Microsoft/Activision drama. On today’s agenda is how Microsoft plans on bringing the Call of Duty games to the Nintendo Switch.

In the most recent filing with the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority, Microsoft went into detail about how it plans to get Call of Duty to run on the lower-powered console. In case you missed it, last month Microsoft signed a 10-year agreement with Nintendo to bring the Call of Duty franchise to the Switch on day one with full features and content.

However, this agreement is entirely subject to the proposed acquisition of Activision Blizzard going through. Hence why we are here today, talking about all this nonsense once again. In said filing, Microsoft said that the engine used for Warzone has already been optimised to run on a wide variety of hardware including but not limited to the Xbox One from 2015.

Microsoft also argued that the engine runs on PC GPUs that were released as far back as 2015, meaning they pre-dare the 2017 launch of the Nintendo Switch. Also in the filing, Microsoft brought up that Activision has a long and successful history of optimising game performance for available hardware capabilities.

As of writing, Microsoft has also offered Sony a 10-year deal for Call of Duty, but Sony hasn’t signed it raising concerns that they believe Microsoft will sabotage Call of Duty for the PlayStation.
