Cities: Skylines 2 Encapsulates all The Magic Of Real Cities With Hailstorms, Rat Infestations, and Overcrowding

Cities: Skylines is my gaming Achilles heel. I love it so much, and yet, I am so utterly horrible at it that I don’t even understand. City builders are usually my thing, I’m great at them and find them to be the ultimate cosy gaming experience. Not Cities: Skylines though, that game is another beast altogether.

One of the things that made Cities: Skylines overwhelming for me was also one of the things that everyone else wanted more of: map tiles. In the 2015 game players were allowed to build on maps that consisted of 25 5×5 tiles, however, that just wasn’t enough for other, more skilled players.

Pretty soon the modding community jumped in and allowed players to build on all the 81 titles in the game but now with Cities: Skylines 2 it seems like modders won’t have to jump in. The maps in Cities: Skylines 2 will supply an enormous 150 buildable tiles allowing players to build and create to their heart’s content without having to get a mod – unless they want to.

We know about this extended map size thanks to the Xbox achievement list for Cities: Skylines 2, which was released today. For some reason. This achievement list has created a great list of features for fans of the game to get excited about.

For example, there is an achievement for experiencing a rat infestation, a hailstorm and watching a resident in your town age from a child to an elder. There’s a lot to be excited about here and if Cities: Skylines 2 is even fractionally as great as the first game these additions have the power to make it truly legendary.
