Over this past weekend, Japan’s anime industry was gathered in Tokyo for the seventh annual Crunchyroll Anime Awards. For those who might not already know, the Crunchyroll Anime Awards works by selecting Anime across a broad range of categories. Then the winners are decided by a global popular vote.
During the seventh Crunchyroll Anime Awards, Netflix’s hugely popular anime, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, walked away with the award for the top anime of the year.
This is no small feat considering all the big, established titles it stood up against in the category. According to Crunchyroll, this year, there were over 18 million votes cast from 200 countries. If you’re interested in some of the other winners of the event, here are a few of the biggies:
