It’s always a great time when interests and universes collide. Today I bring news that one of the most atmospheric survival horror games out there, Dead By Daylight, is receiving its very own adaptation for the big screen, with no other than Blumhouse Productions leading the way.
So for those who don’t already know, Blumhouse Productions is an American film and TV studio that focuses almost exclusively on horror. Since the studio’s conception in 2000, it has produced horror masterpieces like Halloween, Us, The Invisible Man, Get Out, The Black Phone and M3GAN – among others.
Think of Blumhouse as the Steven King of movies and television. A couple of days ago, Blumhouse shared that it’s starting its own gaming division, followed by today’s announcement that Blumhouse Productions and Atomic Monster will be teaming up with Behaviour Interactive to produce a feature-length film adaptation of Dead By Daylight.
For those who have never played this masterpiece and are wondering why Blumhouse would be itching to adapt it, Dead by Daylight is a co-op horror survival game in which four survivors must try to escape and survive a fifth player who controls a deranged killer out for blood. And while Dead by Daylight had initially introduced the world to its own selection of survivors and killers, as the years have passed, the game has pulled in many recognisable characters from horror franchises like eddy from Nightmare on Elm Street and Jill Valentine from Resident Evil into the game.
Are you excited about this adaptation as much as we are? Let us know in the comments below.
