I hardly need to mention what a huge hit Hogwarts Legacy has turned out to be. The fact that the game sold over 12 million copies in just two weeks speaks for itself. According to Warner Bros Games, the game has broken multiple records and brought in over $850 million in revenue. To let that number sink in properly, that is R14,664,735,500 – a truly staggering number to type out, let alone comprehend.
But that’s not the number we care about today; instead, I want to talk about how players have spent over 280 million hours playing Hogwarts Legacy and have killed over 1 BILLION Dark Wizards while at it. According to a report, Hogwarts Legacy players have grown more than 393 million magical plants (of which I’m only responsible for about half), brewed 242 million potions, and killed 1.25 billion Dark Wizards.
“We are so thrilled and proud to see the player response to Hogwarts Legacy from gamers, fans who are new to gaming, and reviewers around the world. Our development team at Avalanche delivered an amazing, high-quality Wizarding World experience that truly fulfills the fan fantasy of life at Hogwarts. Our publishing teams have executed a globally impactful launch campaign.” – David Haddad, president of Warner Bros Games.
