Who would ever have thought back when the game first launched to disastrous effect that years later, we would still be talking about No Man’s Sky? Not me, that’s for sure. And yet, the version of No Man’s Sky we have today is pretty damn good, and thanks to its newly released Fractal update, the game will get even better.
The core thing about No Man’s Sky Fractal update that makes it such a game changer is that it added PSVR 2 support. And no, it’s not the same old virtual reality already available for other VR devices. Instead, it’s a refreshed and upgraded VR experience – or at least that’s what Hello Games, the notoriously honest developers, have said.
No Man’s Sky PSVR 2 version will have reflections, terrain tessellation, increased draw distance, denser foliage, and ultra-high-quality textures and refraction. The game will also make sure of the PSVR 2’s headset vibrations, haptic feedback and adaptive triggers.
As with the other VR versions of No Man’s Sky, the full game can be played in VR, but players can switch back and forth from VR to normal or vice-versa at any time.
If you don’t see yourself picking up a PSVR 2 in the future, don’t stress. The Fractal update also showed some love to non-PlayStation gamers. Currently, every No Man’s Sky player can access the Utopia Speeder starship, which allows super quick travel on a planet’s surface.
Players will also be able to embark on a new expedition called Utopia, which will see players work together to rebuild an abandoned solar system for the mysterious Utopia Foundation and reap some sick rewards while they’re at it.
