Earlier in the month, we covered the new LEGO Friends Universe that LEGO is rolling out with an increased focus on diversity and having LEGO characters children can relate to. That wasn’t the only exciting LEGO news for February, though, because here we are again.
The first LEGO set for 2024 has surfaced on LEGO.com, all sneaky-sneaky-like, effectively confirming at least one LEGO set almost a year in advance. The set in question is set 71481. However, with no theme attached, we’re left to make educated guesses about what it could be. 71481 is usually the series of numbers associated with LEGO Super Mario – the closest set number before it is 71419 Peach’s Garden Balloon Ride.
This isn’t the first time a listing error on LEGO’s part revealed upcoming sets. In April 2022, ten listings surfaced, including Minecraft, Star Wars, BrickHeadz and Creator, long before their official reveal. Set 71481 appearing on the site is almost certainly an error because it’s unlikely that LEGO is preparing to reveal its 2024 sets so early in the year.
Which new LEGO sets are you hoping to see over the next year? Let us know in the comments.
