Does anyone even remember a time when either Microsoft or Sony didn’t own every single gaming company? We sure don’t. And now, Sony has added another studio to its ever-expanding family of studios, Ballistic Moon.
While the name Ballistic Moon probably won’t sound familiar to anyone reading this post, it’s a development studio founded by former Supermassive Games staff who worked on none other than the wildly successful Until Dawn series.
Just going on this, it’s no wonder Sony snatched the studio up. Suppose the team at Ballistic Moon can recreate even a fraction of the pure magic that was the Until Dawn series. In that case, Sony will have an incredible line-up of games exclusive to its console once again.
Previously there was speculation about Sony acquiring Ballistic Moon. Still, thanks to financial services firm Pitchbook, we know that Ballistic Moon is under Sony’s umbrella. In Pitchbook’s entry on Ballistic Moon, the company is shown to have been founded in 2019, has 47 employees, and is listed as “acquired/merged” with its parent company, Sony.
Lately, there have been whispers that Ballistic Moon is working on a title called Project Bates and hiring staff to help work on this project. Hopefully, this means more games in the vein of Until Dawn because that was, in my opinion, one of the best games ever to have been available on PlayStation.
