If I had to choose only one game to play with my friends forever, it would be PayDay 2. There is just something about the game that speaks to my soul, and some of my best gaming times have been playing Payday 2 with friends.
If Payday 2 has the same effect on your heart as mine, you should sit down for this because Payday is going live-action. YES!
Now, before you start taking off your earrings and come at me, I know all about 2013’s Payday: The Web Series, but that’s not what I’m talking about here. Instead, developer Starbreeze released a statement this morning announcing that it has partnered with Stockholm Syndrome to produce a live-action Payday 2 adaption for TV or Film.
I’m too aware of the curse that seems to follow adaptations and result in their live-action counterparts being far more awful than they have any right to be. However, I also feel like (and touch wood) there is no way to mess up Payday.
Payday is, at its core, a game crying to be a B Rated action film, and I don’t foresee them not being able to pull it off. Also, we’ve been fortunate with the last couple of adaptations from The Last of Us to Halo and The Witcher being pretty damn great, so who knows, maybe Payday doesn’t have to be a B-rated movie.
The agreement is still fresh between the two studios, so those eager for more details will, unfortunately, have to pass the time waiting for Payday 3 instead.
