Sometimes, we don’t share the same hobbies as our partners, and that’s ok! Some of us are gamers, and some of us are not. Some of us like avocados, and some do not, weirdly enough.
Sometimes though, our non-gaming partners want to be close by while we play some games and maybe, now and again, backseat game… like just a little, and that’s ok.
So, here’s my list of 3 games that you could casually play on the couch while your partner sits behind you watching Insta reels and, every now and again, throws some advice your way to help you with your game:
Two Point Hospital/Campus
Two Point Hospital/Campus is a tycoon/business simulation-style game where you build up your hospital or campus with different rooms and areas to satisfy the incoming people’s needs and wants.
Sometimes it gets a little crazy, ok, all the time it gets a little crazy. Still, it’s a heck of a lot of fun. It is sure to get your partner to ask what’s happening and chuckle at the dramatic situation you have somehow landed yourself in.

No Man’s Sky
While this might not encourage much back-seat gaming from your partner, the wide, wide galaxy can be very calming.
The game allows you to build your home base or explore the world while conversing with your partner. They can even help you plan the layout of your base once you’ve managed to mine enough of the things you need and you’ve found the best view in the galaxy.

Any VR Horror Game
While this may not technically be backseat gaming, cough* again cough*, as somewhat of a scaredy cat myself, I find it very comforting to have your partner sit as closely behind you as possible while you attempt to not die of a heart attack.
Of course, pick something that won’t have you moving around a lot, and possibly caution your partner of sudden jump-scares where you may headbutt them in the nose or elbow them in the gut.

Ultimately, you’ll have a more enjoyable time if you can interchange between doing your things and partaking in each other’s things, even for a short period. So I’d avoid a night of COD with the squad and stick to something easygoing and maybe even a little romantic.
