Acer’s PLANET9 platform aims to uplift casual gaming and esports in schools

Acer has recently invested in PLANET9, a new gaming platform that aims to upskill and reduce the barrier to entry for esports learners. The focus is on casual gamers and growing esports within education by providing tools for schools and partners to host their own micro tournaments.

As of January 2023, the platform supports over 90 games and aims to provide fair competition through proper management, equipment provisioning, and game hosting.

PLANET9 emphasises both the social aspect of gaming and the development of skills, including hard and soft skills such as tournament organisation and administration.

Users can form teams within an active community, find like-minded teammates, improve their skills and mechanics through online learning and data analysis, and compete with their team in scrims and tournaments. The goal is to provide a platform for developing competitiveness on a micro level without incurring major costs.

Thanks to Acer’s investment, the platform is completely free to use. Acer is dedicated to promoting the growth of esports within schools and is encouraging the use of the platform for inter-house and inter-school tournaments. Acer will also be supporting the partners who sign up and actively use the program by sponsoring them with prizes for the tournaments.

This new platform provides a unique opportunity for esports learners to upskill and grow in their gaming community. With the support of Acer and the focus on social and skill, PLANET9 is poised to become a leading platform for esports learners.
