In this morning’s dose of really cool news I probably should have known about before but didn’t, we have The Lords of the Fallen. If Elden Ring before Elden Ring was never on your radar, The Lords of the Fallen is an action role-playing game first released in 2014 to pretty okay-ish reviews.
While reviews generally weren’t singing the game’s praises, almost all of them enjoyed the idea, with significant complaints being that the game was too easy for a souls-like and lacked co-op gameplay.
Now in 2023, the developers are gearing up for The Lords of the Fallen to return and this time, they’ve tackled at least one complaint head-on. During an interview over the weekend, the game’s creative director Cezar Virtosu spoke about the upcoming title’s co-op integration and how they intended to bring together players in a straightforward way.
From what we know, the co-op in The Lords of the Fallen will be seamless and untethered. Instead of using in-game items to spawn other players, each session will get co-op participants together for as long as they desire. Although playing with your friends will still come at a cost. Opting to play through the game with a friend will align your character with the radiant church, an in-game faction that will call upon PvP invaders.
Little else is known about the upcoming game, and other than a rough 2023 release window, there is nothing more to go on. Now we want to know from you, are you looking forward to your journey back into the world of The Lords of the Fallen? And do you think the developers will be able to build on the strengths of the previous title while also addressing its shortcomings? Let us know in the comments.
