It seems crazy to think that we are close to approaching the sixth anniversary of the Nintendo Switch console. In some ways, it feels like I just got it, and in other ways, it feels like I’ve always owned Nintendo’s much-loved hybrid console.
It’s also not just me who loves the console; in fact, it seems like the Switch is doing better than ever. According to the latest NPD Group data for 2022, the Nintendo Switch is officially the best-selling console in the US… for the fifth year in a row.
This means that people love the Switch console and buy more of them than they do PlayStation or Xbox – an awe-inspiring feat for Nintendo. The list had Sony’s PlayStation 5 in second place and Microsoft’s Xbox Series X|S in third.
Nintendo also managed to have some of the most significant game sales in the US for 2022 with their exclusive titles. Pokémon Scarlet and Violet came in sixth place overall, Pokémon Legends: Arceus in eighth and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in eleventh.
