The Grand Theft Auto Trilogy: Definitive Edition, the collection which includes the popular games Grand Theft Auto 3, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, is now available on Steam for the first time. On top of that it is available at 50% off at R534.50 until the 2nd of February.
The trilogy’s release on Steam increases the remastered titles’ PC availability beyond the Rockstar Games Launcher. Rockstar has also revealed that the Definitive Edition will be available on the Epic Games Store later in January.
The Definitive Edition was first launched on November 11, 2021, and it replaced the original versions of the games on various platforms. However, Rockstar removed the original copies of the early 2000s titles from Steam, making them unpurchaseable. Gamers were also largely unhappy with the remastered games at launch, with many gamers complaining of numerous technical and visual issues.
In order to make up for the poor quality of the games at launch, Rockstar offered users PC copies of the original titles via the Rockstar Games Launcher. Rockstar has tried to squash those bugs and fix the graphics flaws through a number of updates, gradually enhancing the game, however, the last major update was in February 2022, meaning we are fast approaching a year without any substantial updates or improvements.
Rockstar Games’ next big project is Grand Theft Auto 6. The developer has teased the game but has not yet revealed substantial information about it. The Definitive Edition of the trilogy is also still available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. It is also scheduled to be released on Android and iOS devices in 2023.
The sale also sees several Rockstar-developed games with huge discounts. (See below for the full list).
