One of this year’s biggest games, God of War Ragnarok, the action-adventure game from Santa Monica Studio, launched last week and has already broken a series sales record.
Following the rave reviews for its predecessor, God of War (2018), fans anxiously anticipated the release of Ragnarok, and it shows.
The game has not only been topping the sales charts but has also been one of the trending games on Twitch, with hundreds of thousands of fans tuning in to watch streamers play, more than 16 million hours of gameplay have already been watched since the release.
Santa Monica Studio also released an update for God of War Ragnarok over the weekend which brings quality-of-life and stability improvements. Some players had reportedly faced error codes and stuttering issues from the day one patch, the GOWR patch 2.001.000 should fix a few of these issues.
Ragnarok’s predecessor was the most successful game in the God of War franchise, being among the best-selling games of 2018, only behind a few big-name titles such as Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and FIFA 19. Time will tell whether Ragnarok can match the performance of the previous game, but it has certainly gotten off to a good start.
