There are a few things in life that are a given. I’ll always need to pee when I reach maximum comfort at night. McDonald’s Ice-cream machine will always work until you find yourself craving a late-night McFlurry, and Asymmetric will forever be the stick figure gods.
When in 2022 does a game just drop, seemingly out of the sky and into existence? Never. Until now. Last night Asymmetric, the developers behind the single-player comedy western RPG West of Loathing, both announced and dropped their brand new game that’s been five years in Development.
Shadows Over Loathing takes the same signature style and comedy from the long-running online RPG The Kingdom of Loathing and West of Loathing and refines it while staying true to their roots. Show Over Loathing will see players travel to Ocean City to help Uncle Murray run his antique shop. If you thought being offered a well-paying job out of nowhere was strange, you should sit down.

By the time your character arrives, Uncle Murray is missing. It’s now up to you to run the shop, investigate his disappearance and figure out what the strange artefact he was hunting down has to do with everything. As with the previous titles, players will spend their time exploring the quirky and ridiculous black-and-white world, having idiotically brilliant conversations, and enjoying turn-based battles with gun-toting stick things.
Shadows Over Loathing is available on Steam for R222 or R188 if you purchase it before the 18th. You can find the game here.
