Razer Announces The Wolverine V2 Pro – A Controller With A Higher Price Than The DualSense Edge

Last night while we were all sleeping, Razer was awake and making waves. Razer announced their new high-end PC/PS5 compatible gamepad that seeks to compare with the DualSense Edge or Microsoft’s Xbox Elite controllers in luxury and price tag.

Razer’s Wolverine V2 Pro is an officially licenced PlayStation controller and includes many features that its competitors do, like rear paddle buttons and swappable thumb pads. The controller also boasts mecha-tactile button switches and hyperspeed wireless to reduce input latency. The other thing that the controller has is a $250 price tag, bringing it to a whopping R4339.

Now to break this down for our readers, at $250, Razer’s Wolverine V2 Pro is officially $50 (R868) more expensive than the DualSense Edge or anywhere between $100-$150 (R2604-ish) more expensive than the Xbox Elite V2.

Considering this controller is coming in at a higher price than the two top premium controllers available, you would expect something super special and unique, but there isn’t anything. The Wolverine V2 Pro doesn’t have a single standout feature that can justify the price jump over its competitors.

While for many, the Xbox-style layout will make gaming on the PlayStation 5 feel more intuitive and natural, that isn’t a big enough sell for me. And even when it comes to the controller itself, while it comes in an attractive white with RGB detailing, the controller doesn’t have any other colour or design options available. A minor niggle sure, but for the price, I’d like to make sure my controller is truly special.

But now we want to know what you think about the controller and how much you are willing to spend on one. Let us know in the comments.
