Overwatch 2 Is Successfully Keeping People Indoors And Playing

It’s been over a month since roughly 25 million people have seen the outdoors. Activision-Blizzard’s latest financial report has officially shone a light on Overwatch 2 and how well the game has performed in its first month. As previously announced, Overwatch 2 managed to pull in over 25 million players in under ten days and thanks to the report, we have even more info.

Activision-Blizzard’s latest quarterly report revealed that Overwatch 2 managed to grow and amass roughly 35 million active players and keep them playing throughout its first four weeks. At the moment, Overwatch 2 is seeing roughly triple the daily player count of its predecessor. Many of them were new to the Overwatch franchise.

This influx of brand new players is undoubtedly because of Overwatch 2’s shift to the free-to-play module, making it more attractive for newcomers to download and try out – before becoming hooked like the rest of us.

The report also revealed that Activision-Blizzard has planned an ambitious slate of regular seasonal updates for 2023. The updates will introduce new characters, maps and modes, including the game’s much-anticipated PvE mode. Players have already started to see some of these updates, with the latest champion, Ramattra, getting announced this past week. Ramattra is also the fourth new champion to be added to the game since it launched.

So far, all Activision-Blizzard has revealed for the upcoming hero is a cinematic trailer showcasing the character’s backstory and origins. Are you playing Overwatch 2? Let us know in the comments below.
