Apex Legends – Season 15 ‘Eclipse’

The new season for Apex just dropped and if you’re a legend, you’d already be knee deep in the new battle pass. If you don’t already know though, here’s all the details:

Most notably, there’s a new defensive hero getting thrown into the mix, Catalyst. She enters the battle strapped with some environment changing ferrofluid abilities. Her passive, Barricade, allows you to re-enforce doorways to stop enemies from getting through as easily as they could before. Her tactical, Piercing Spikes, throws out a pool of fluid that turns to spikes whenever an enemy is near and her ultimate, Dark Veil, throws up a permeable wall that slightly blinds and slows enemies for a brief moment if they pass through it.

With her environment altering abilities, and the fact that she’s new and people like new things obviously, means that she’ll definitely be picking up quite a few spots on the battlefield this season.

The new season update also brings with it a new map, Broken Moon. By the looks of things, this map is built for stylistic, parkour kill-shots. With a wide array of zip-lines and jump stations at the ready, Broken Moon is the map for those of us with a little too much caffeine in our systems.

Respawn and EA have also announced that you can now gift cosmetics to friends, meaning you can purchase them all matching outfits so you can squad up in style. A cute new feature for those more generous than others.

Along with all this new stuff, we’ll also be getting a new sticker system. Stickers are a cosmetic that allows you to add a little flavour to your healing items, your med-kits, shield cells, shield batteries and phoenix kits. You can have a different sticker for each item as well. It’s a neat update that I’m sure will bring in quite a bit of coin. Everyone get’s two free stickers and you can purchase 20 more from the Specials Store in game.

There are also a whole bunch of bug fixes and tweaks coming with the latest season, but my two most notable picks are, the Ranked Entry level is being pushed up from 10 to 20. Might not seem like much on paper, but at least we’ll have less bots/smurf accounts coming into the fray, hopefully. And the increase in time for the first ring to start closing. Last season Apex was sped up drastically by introducing faster zone times that hit a lot harder. Eventually they eased up on the hurt of the rings, but they were still coming in fast. This season they’re moving the first ring time from 60 to 90 seconds. Personally, I liked the faster rings, it meant that you had to drop, loot, kill and move as quickly as possible, but this slight update might help a little with those elongated fights out on the edge of the map.

Are you planning on picking up the new Legend? Perhaps Broken Moon is a little too fast paced for your liking? Let us know what you think of the new season in the comments below or on our socials!
