Fujifilm announces new Instax Square Link printer

Instax fans who have been waiting for a Link smartphone printer that can print Square format film may now rest easy. The Instax Square Link printer, which produces quick prints in the Instax Square format (6262mm) at 1.5 times the size of their Instax tiny counterparts, has been introduced by Fujifilm South Africa. It joins the Mini Link 2 and Link Wide as additional smartphone printers in the Instax Link lineup.

The Square Link includes several features not before seen on Instax Link printers. Among those features are AR (Augmented Reality) Print and Instax Connect, which allow users to share Instax photographs digitally by picking an image, adding text and/or effects, and sending it to any connected device, such as a smartphone or tablet.

The Square Link is a compact, lightweight (236g) printer that transfers a picture from the user’s smartphone to begin printing in about 12 seconds. It also allows continuous printing and can print around 100 Instax prints per charge wirelessly through Bluetooth.

One of the key features of the Square Link is the ability to add AR features to images, including special effects, text, images, background colours, doodles, and animations. The AR material is unlocked via a QR code printed on the photo, which users can then view on and around their print. To witness the effects in action, they merely scan the code with their smartphone.

The Instax Square Link will be available in Ash White and Midnight Green, local availability date and pricing are not yet known.
