Is this Logitech’s upcoming cloud gaming device?

In early August, Logitech and Tencent announced a partnership to bring a cloud gaming handheld device to market later this year that will support multiple cloud gaming services.

The device will combine the hardware expertise from Logitech with the software expertise of Tencent. Xbox Cloud Gaming and Nvidia GeForce Now are already being worked on confirming the ability to play AAA games when away from your console or PC. However, a new leak on Twitter by phone enthusiast Evan Blass has given us a first look with some interesting details.

The most noticeable feature released in the leak shows that the device appears to be running Android complete with the Google Play store. This differs from its competitor, the Steam Deck, which operates a unique OS which runs your PC games in your steam library. While the operating system is not extremely important as the focus on these devices is Cloud Gaming, with the Google Play store users will have access to YouTube and Chrome while also likely having the ability to play mobile games too.

In the leaked image is a Steam icon, opening the possibility of a potential partnership, with this just being a leaked image there is little detail on this, and the most likely reason for the icon is probably for Steam Link. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are also shown in the image, unfortunately, there doesn’t appear to be any sign of 5G, meaning that if they do support it, it will likely be an additional version at a higher price. To me, this defeats the point a little as these handheld cloud gaming devices are primarily to allow gamers to play their AAA games when they are away from their console or PC. On the other hand, a cheaper option might be appealing to some.

The leaked images were quickly removed from Twitter due to copyright, suggesting they are indeed real images of the Logitech G handheld device. This is a very early leak, and we still await further details and an official reveal, with Logitech’s plan for a 2022 release we won’t have to wait long, stay tuned to NAG for any further updates.
