The moment World of Warcraft fans worldwide have been waiting for has finally arrived. Last night Blizzard Entertainment had fans everywhere on the edge of their seats as they announced the ninth World of Warcraft expansion, Dragonflight would be arriving by the end of 2022, and pre-purchases are now open.
World of Warcraft executive producer Holly Longdale said, “We are thrilled to share that we’ll be bringing our next expansion to players later this year; Dragonflight is a return to Azeroth and the freedom and exploration that World of Warcraft is known for. This is your chance to get up close and personal with the rich history of the storied Dragon Isles and to immerse yourself in the high-fantasy at the core of the Warcraft universe.”

While Blizzard Entertainment has been tight-lipped about the exact release date, they did share some information about the upcoming expansion. Dragonflight will see players explore Azeroth, the ancestral homeland of the dragons. Players will be discovering the history of the dragons, learning what happened to them over the last 10 thousand years and attempting to forge alliances with the dragons themselves.
The expansion will also include:
- Four new zones.
- An increased level cap on 70.
- Travel via dragon and a brand new character type to choose from.
- The expansion will also see the game’s talent system and professions overhalled while adding a heads-up display.
