TNG: Nintendo’s April to July lineup will fill the gap

I was listening to a gaming podcast the other day and they spoke about how the next few months (April, June and July) are looking pretty thin in terms of big gaming releases, especially if you mainly play on PC, Xbox or PlayStation. In fact, it could be argued that the if you’re looking for a new AAA experience on any of those platforms (at least in terms of what’s already been announced) there’s only the new Saint’s Row on the horizon and that’s only due to launch on the 23rd of  August. Of course, in the last few months, we’ve had some big really good releases on all the platforms, so this is the perfect time to go back and tackle that backlog. And I expect Elden Ring and Forbidden West will be seeing a lot of new/returning players.

However, if you’re not really interested in any of those and you’re a Nintendo fan – the next few months are actually really decent and might fill the gap. To start us off, I’d urge you to give Kirby and the Forgotten Land a go. We loved our time with it, and while it is on the brighter, more family-friendly side of gaming, there is really a lot to love about the game and Hal Labs has done a great job of moving Kirby into a fun and super creative 3D world. Later this month (29 April) Super Switch Sports will be hitting the Switch and if the popularity of Wii Sports is anything to go by – this is a title that will everyone entertained for hours.

In June, Mario Strikers Battle League Football launches on the 10th and then Fire Emblem Warriors Three Hopes (24 June) while the huge Sunbreak DLC for Monster Hunter Rise (30 June) round off the month and ensure you’ll have plenty to do. And if you’re still looking for something to play in July Monday’s surprise announcement that Xenoblade Chronicles 3 had been brought forward, plus we have the Klonoa remakes and Live A Live‘s HD-2D reimaging mean we have a lot to look forward to.

Plus, with Splatoon 3, the Mario + Rabbids sequel and Advance Wars still without release dates (unless there’s a delay announced soon) I suspect even post-July we’ll still have a lot to keep us busy if you’re a Switch owner.
