Anybody out there a Witcher fan? Well, you’d be excited to know that CDPR has officially announced a new game is in the making!
I’m Ciri-us! This time, however, they’ve partnered with Epic Games and are using Unreal Engine 5 to drive the new saga. They’ve said that they won’t be exclusively dropping the game on the Epic Games Store, so don’t get too uppity on that front, they’re working with Epic Games to help develop UE5 for the future: “We’ll closely collaborate with Epic Games’ developers with the primary goal being to help tailor the engine for open-world experiences.”
Let’s get that rumour mill grinding though, what do you think is coming up next for Geralt? Will Geralt even be the main character this time? Will there even be any witches?? Any guesses on the medallion, School of the Lynx perhaps?
This is the official announcement:
We’re happy to announce that the next instalment in The Witcher series of video games is currently in development, kicking off a new saga for the franchise.

This is an exciting moment as we’re moving from REDengine to Unreal Engine 5, beginning a multi-year strategic partnership with Epic Games. It covers not only licensing but technical development of Unreal Engine 5, as well as potential future versions of Unreal Engine, where relevant. We’ll closely collaborate with Epic Games’ developers with the primary goal being to help tailor the engine for open-world experiences.
At this point, no further details regarding the game — such as a development time frame or release date — are available.
REDengine, the technology which powers Cyberpunk 2077, is still being used for the development of the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 expansion.
