When I booted up Just Dance 2022 for the first time, I thought I would have to play through it by myself, but to my surprise, my partner was instantly in and before long, we were both fumbling through the dances together to competing against each other. By now, it’s been years since I’ve been comfortable referring to myself as either a professional dancer or a dance teacher. Yet, the moment I started playing Just Dance 2022, none of that mattered. I was home.
From songs I only listen to on TikTok to old favourites, Just Dance 2022 has something for every mood. From start to finish, Just Dance 2022 is a good, lighthearted time, and that’s precisely the feeling I want for this entire year; also, I’m not sure if my sore muscles the next day were from the hours my partner and I spent dancing or from the hours we spent laughing.
After just an hour of playing, it quickly became apparent that Just Dance 2022 is one hell of a workout. While my partner assured me I wasn’t dying, my heart rate told me I might be. After trying a few of the more complicated dances and ending up on the floor next to my partner in fits of laughter, I found myself wishing the game had some sort of practice mode where I could learn the choreography at my own pace; however, after muscling through and doing the same song a few times over, I found myself catching on despite the speed.

As an adult, I’m always looking for ways my partner and I can stay fit together that doesn’t feel like a slog and doesn’t mean having to run, and Just Dance 2022 fulfils that perfectly. After just a few dances, we were both out of breath, sweety but also happy and trying to beat the scores of the other. I will say, you do have to shell for the Just Dance 2022 subscription if you plan on using the game as a means of fitness or even if you just want to play often, as you’ll work through almost all the included songs in just a few hours.
