I’m a simple man, I like simple things; Fire, meat, three buttons on my mouse, and a clickable wheel. I don’t think I’ve ever purposefully hit the side buttons on a mouse before. Call me a caveman, but that’s the way I like my mouses… Meese? No, mice? No, mouses.

The MM730 is exactly that, a no-fuss, simple mouse with just a few buttons. It’s the kind of mouse I would look for when I set my traps out for something new. And looking at it on paper, the 49g weight also would’ve been something that tempted me, but after using it, Woah, is 49g light?

Moving from my older mouse, which isn’t much heavier at 87.9g, the experience was pretty much the difference between night and day. I almost slid the mouse to Timbuktu with a quick flick of the wrist. Look I’m not saying that a light mouse is a bad thing, I got the hang of it pretty quickly and it feels good in the palm, I just prefer my mouse with a little more weight. I also found the wheel click needed a little more finger strength than I was used to.

Other than that, the MM730 was a cool little mouse to take for a spin. It’s smooth and quick, the upgraded PTFE mouse feet along with the braided cable meant that I wasn’t tugging on my mouse when things got heated and when you combine the mouse with the Cooler Master MasterPlus software suite, it’s a real contender for an awesome gaming mouse, for any kind of gaming.

The MasterPlus software suite allows you to configure each button on the mouse to do whatever bidding you have up your sleeve (barring the left click) and it allows for combo presses using the mouse-wheel button as your “FN” key. You can, of course, also configure the RGB lighting settings to your liking and there is a massive setup menu for the way the mouse moves. Both X and Y axis are DPI configurable and there is an option to tune the mouse to a specific surface if you’re using some sort of otherworldly mousepad.

The MM703 also comes packaged with grip tape, so you’ll never let go of your mouse buddy again… EVER.

B-B-B-BONUS ROUND:

Speaking of no-fuss, Cooler Master also launched the MP511 mousepad that just goes perfectly with the MM730. We managed to get our grubby little paws on the large size, it comes in L (450x400mm), XL (900x400mm) and XXL (1220x610mm), and let me just say, it’s a premium piece of mousepad. The anti-fray stitching looks phenomenal and the CORDURA, splash-resistant fabric feels like it belongs in a space station. All in all, another no-frills, no-fuss piece from Cooler Master that you wouldn’t mind having underneath your favourite mouse-buddy.

BOTTOM LINE
The MM730 is a decent, although light, mouse that would improve your KD by, at least, 0.05. No promises.
