Logitech may have just dropped the best set of wireless headphones of 2021; yes, I called it, the Logitech G435 is by far the best set of wireless cans I’ve used in a very long time.

I am not sure if I missed the memo last year, but it seems that the headphone has got some impressive tech upgrades over the last 12 months. There have been a few big launches and I for one am happy to see so much new tech being injected into the old headphone cups. While better audio fidelity is always the goal, wireless technology is now one of the biggest reasons to upgrade your headset.

The Logitech G435 is a dual-wireless headset; not only does it support Lightspeed wireless technology but it can pair with any Bluetooth device, such as your smartphone. The former is of course the ideal way to use the G435. Lightspeed is Logitech’s low latency wireless technology that it uses for all its wireless peripherals and in this case, there is a USB dongle in the box that you can connect to your PC, Mac or the PS4 and PS5. There is no word on support for Xbox just yet.

You’d be forgiven if you walk past the G435 on the store shelf accidentally, that package is non-assuming and much smaller than I expected. The headphones themselves weigh a mere 165 grams and are quite a bit smaller than your average gaming headset. With no cables to worry about, it’s really just a battery, some circuitry, and two audio drivers.

After unboxing this set I was a little surprised at how underwhelming the kit seemed at first, feeling almost too light in the hand. But it was not until I blasted my favourite playlist that I realised I could not be more wrong. The Logitech G435 is able to produce an impressive audio range, from deep bass to crisp highs in both music and the games that I played.

The headset features an audio limiter that caps the sound level at 85db but you can remove this limiter by holding the Mute + Volume Up button for 3 seconds, but caution is advised here as your ears could sustain permanent damage listing to game audio and music as high volumes. In fact, Logitech states the following noise exposure guidelines in the manual (established by the US Occupational Safety Health Administration); at 90db, you can listen for 8 hours per day before damage to your ears occur while you only have 2 hours at 100db, before you sustain damage to your ears.

Another impressive feat is that there is no boom arm for the mic. You may not even notice the two microphones hidden neatly on the left ear cup. Logitech calls this a beamforming microphone which is just a fancy way to say it is designed to capture your voice without requiring a mic on a boom arm in front of your mouth.

The headphone cups can move up or down to give you a better fit and there’s a set of buttons within thumb reach on the left side to control volume, power, and to mute the mic. There’s also a USB-C port for charging.

What Logitech managed to get right with the G435 is that this headset offers no-frills wireless headphones that produce really good audio. There are no accessories to worry about and its solid construction makes this a very good headset to take with you everywhere you go. It can take a few knocks and there’s nothing that can easily snap off or get hooked.

If you are a mobile or console gamer, the G435 makes a lot of sense. At the normal, 85db limited volume the battery will last most of the day if you use it constantly at full volume and about a week if you use it only a few hours a day like I do.

For me, it’s the headsets’ comfort level over long periods of use, the durability of the hardware, and of course, the audio fidelity. The Logitech G435 ticks all the right boxes and comes in at a price that won’t make you feel guilty about the purchase.
