Netflix has dropped the first teaser trailer for the next season of the show, but it doesn’t tell us much. Unless you know what to look for, anyway.
Debuted this weekend, the 12-second teaser trailer features Ciri in a compilation of very dramatic scenes, with zero context. And Geralt is a total no-show.

In a subsequent series of Twitter posts, though, Netflix’s social media team elaborates on some of those blink-and-you-missed-it clues like this one.
this looks a lot like Ciri is hanging out in Kaer Morhen, a new location we’ll visit in Season 2. fingers crossed we see her pick up one of these swords! those Elven runes look preeeeeetty similar to Geralt’s sword from Witcher 3…. #WitcherCon pic.twitter.com/mnZX6SRj55

Kaer Morhen – the “Keep of the Elder Sea” or “Keep of the Sea of Yore” – was once a sort of college for witchers of the School of the Wolf, but most of its occupants were wiped out by zealots. In Andrzej Sapkowski’s first novel Blood of Elves, Geralt brings Ciri to Kaer Morhen to start her witchering classes with Vesemir, CoĂ«n, Eskel and Lambert – but things get… complicated. The location is also a destination in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, but remember that the TV show is based on the books, not the games.
The cast includes Henry Cavill, Freya Allan, and Anya Chalotra reprising their roles as Geralt, Ciri, and Yennefer from the first season, next to Yasen Atour (Young Wallander) as Coen, Thue Ersten Rasmussen (Fast and Furious 9) as Eskel, and Paul Bullion (Peaky Blinders) as Lambert.
A premiere date for season two of The Witcher has not been confirmed.
