Diablo 2: Resurrected public beta and launch date announced

Blizzard has confirmed that its Y2K nostalgia sim is out on PC and consoles on 23 September, preceded by a public beta of the game’s multiplayer mode in August.

The Diablo 2: Resurrected beta includes five of the game’s seven total classes – Amazon, Barbarian, Paladin, Sorceress, and Druid – with an early access bonus for pre-order purchases, according to an update on Blizzard’s website. I dunno if this is actually news or I missed it or what, but a new trailer debuted this weekend also confirmed that the game supports up to eight players in online co-op, which should be much more manageable in 2021 with futuristic fibre internet than the original TCP/IP dialup connection that bombed out every time mom used the phone. You kids and your wifis don’t even know.

Besides eight-player co-op, Diablo 2: Resurrected also supports save imports and 4K resolution on compatible hardware (or, for the over-40s, a keep-it-real 800 x 600 option).
