11 Bit Studios’ bleak post-apocalyptic management game is this week’s freebie on the Epic Games Store, and it’s guaranteed to make you a very bad person.
Frostpunk combos genre conventions from other management games like SimCity and the Anno series, but it’s uniquely… perverse. Or, I dunno, necessarily indifferent to unrelenting human anguish to maximise production quotas #like #a #boss. I guess it depends on your perspective.
“I think it was at the end of the second week that I decided to introduce new legislation – the kids had to work,” I wrote in my review of the console version of the game. “And I want to pretend that it was an emergency, that I had no other choice, that desperate times and desperate measures, and it’s not like the United Nations Human Rights Council even exists in this timeline.”
Besides, kids love coal mines.
Frostpunk is available for the budget price of exactly zero from now until next Thursday, 10 June.
